Occupy's one year old today, just a teenie baby. The civil rights movement, voting for women, Nelson Mandela becoming president of South Africa, the abolition of slavery, the successes of the anti-nuke movement: each of these took many years to accomplish.

Occupy has a ccomplished so much in its one year and changed the conversation around the future and what's possible. This is a time to celebrate what's been done and remember that success comes to the stubborn, and that one year in is just a beginning.

That rather grand title is the subject of a booket by Peter Block, an author and community developer who has soooo much to say about community change, I wanted to share it with you.

Apparently, the UK police force were protesting only a short time before the Occupy protest for something like lay-offs and/or wage cuts. I was hoping that it was a start to the realization that the corporate backed govts don't represent them either. If so it didn;t last long.
